2021 – 2025
Appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo in July 2021, Dr. Abdul-Hamid served as Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), the regulator of Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry.
His tenure was defined by reform. He led the repeal and replacement of the NPA Act to modernise the regulator’s mandate, introduced a Ghanaian local-content policy for downstream operations, and pursued initiatives to position Ghana as a leading regional petroleum hub — while tackling long-standing revenue leakages in the sector.
